Papa Picks 2012

World famous blogspot, papasgotabrandnewblog song of the year was, without a doubt, Pillow Talk “The Real Thing” which was frequently played on repeat for entire afternoons. Miguel’s “Adorn” gets an honorary mention as best Teenage Dance floor smooch tune.

PGBNB film of the year actually harks back to 2011 but we don’t care. The film, Shame by Brit director Steve McQueen starring Michael Fassbender & Carey Mulligan, deals with the complex issues of sex addiction, and how one man struggles to fit in.  Powerful stuff indeed.

Gig of the year was Feist at Amanda’s in Vitacura (Santiago), totally intimate & wonderful (as the video’s show).

City of the Year was Lima with the Tacu Tacu at Restuarante Cordano (next to the Palacio de Gobierno) getting the vote as most memorable meal.

Breaking News: Pope to Wed

According to Christmas rumours the Pope, the leader of the worldwide Catholic Church is to break all his vows and get married. Reports are coming in that the “lucky lady” is a Ms. Emma HH, who lives in Droitwich. Obviously; this news has caused waves of discontent around the world. Many people are questioning its authenticity claiming that it is some sort of publicity stunt. Parallels are being draw between Droitwich and Bethlehem and a team has set off to investigate. They will be checking out all stables in the Droitwich area and would especially like to interview 3 gentlemen who reportedly blocked a B-road for half-an-hour yesterday because one of their camels had a stone in its hoof. Reports of a strange star over Droitwich proved to be nothing more than the reflection off Ms. Emma HH engagement ring (pictured below).

Builder's birthday vigil

Reports are coming in that tensions are rising in the media headquarters of Bristol based builder Geddie 3000 (the nickname has something or other to do with a homage to hip-hop superstars front man Andre 3000 so please check it out on the corresponding Wikipedia page). According to sources close to the builder (Honey Rose, the gal who knows), Geddie is patiently waiting for a birthday greeting from world famous blogspot papasgotabrandnewblog.

"It's my biggest wish" said the semi disgraced Bristol based builder (remember, this is the man who tried to swop his daughter for a blow up Spiderman gorilla).  "i think I was born for tis moment'.

Meanwhile, papasgotabrandnewblog employees are tight lipped and news reports from the popular online site are few and far between (its business as usual then, Ed). However, the cleaners at the head office of world famous blogspot papasgotabrandnewblog did point out that with a birthday so close to Christmas it was typical that people combined greetings and that Geddie could expect a double-whammy on the 24th.  Additionally, the person who delivers the mail on Tuesday and Thursday seemed to think that most people would forget and that greetings would arrive between the 26th of December and the 3rd of January if at all.

Birthday Boy Pulls His Socks Up!

  

Birthday boy Dan C, the strong-armed sticks man with Psychedelic Black Country Rockers John E Vistic Experience, has been told to "pull his socks up" by his fellow band members, and it's not the the hard-working drummer is not pulling his weight. According to a spokesperson for fashion gurus Calvin Klein, Dan has been chosen as a “foot model” because he has lovely ankles.

An unnamed member of JVE confirmed the news adding that Dan's exquisite ankles were often overlooked as it was difficult to show them off from behind a drum kit. However, the band does hope to capitalize on Dan’s ankle fame and are currently working on a special encore for their next live show which involves Dan playing a drum solo whilst simultaneously waving his ankles in the air.

A roadie for the band added that they had tried the stunt in a couple of rehearsals but Dan had kept falling off his stool. Luckily he landed on his head each time.

Crazed Commenter At Large

A crazed blog commenter going by the name of “ Anonymous” went on a totally mad, spur of the moment commenting spree after apparently misunderstanding a post on world famous blogspot papasgotabrandnewblog. The awesomely amazing blogspot had published a post regarding the number of POSTS this year and it appears as if the crazed commenter understood the post was bemoaning the lack of COMMENTS this year. In an absolutely wonderful show of solidarity, the kookie commenter then proceeded to leave 12 comments no less in less than 12 minutes before disappearing into the night like some sort of whacky freedom fighter (I’m thinking Harry Tuttle in Brazil). Police have asked for cooperation from the general public in finding the cranky commenter and although they don’t believe him or her to be dangerous they advise members of the public not to apprehend the weirdo writer for their own health and sanity (especially the latter!!).

Cristain B, father of Santiago based superhero Pedro B, celebrates his umpteenth birthday today. Cristian had to cancel a special birthday interview with world famous blogspot papasgotabrandnewblog at the last minute due to tiredness! Apparently it’s not easy being the parent of a super hero.

Evil Aunties

World famous blogspot papasgotabrandnewblog has uncovered exclusive news that a pair of twin sisters banished their niece. According to reports, the ruthless relatives got so fed up of sharing their birthday with their young niece that they banished her to the other side of the world where her birthday would actually take place a day earlier. An unnamed source claimed that cruel UK based aunts Fran & Lizzie H forced their young niece Freya to immigrate to New Zealand so that they would receive more attention on their yearly celebration.

“We were here first” one of the terrible twosome was overheard saying.

Apparently, the evil aunties had already attempted to rid themselves of their niece on previous occasions. By all accounts they tried:

-          feeding her a poisoned apple

-          casting a sleeping spell on her

-          turning her into a frog

-          strapping her to a remote controlled broomstick

Luckily for Freya, the sadistic sisters failed at each attempt and only succeeded in banishing her and her family to a life of hardship and poverty in a far away and distant land.

If found guilty of enforced banishment of a minor the scheming sisters face a long time under lock and key.  A spokesperson for the West County Police who are overseeing the case said “Birthday or not, we are close to making an arrest as we have the full cooperation of the respective families of these heartless criminals. In fact, both families have stated that they will be glad to see the back of these wicked women who celebrate their birthday today”.

Freya Birth-daya

Paekakariki based teenager, Freya Double H has been branded a spoil-sport and a cheat by one of her aunties.  One of her aunts is put out by the fact that Freya, who shares her birth date with her twin aunties, actually gets to celebrate before them because she lives in a different time zone.

“She steals all our glory” complained the annoyed aunt (shouldn’t that be “annoying aunt”? Ed). “By the time we get to celebrate everybody’s fed up of saying happy birthday and it all seems a bit forced” the angry aunt explained (shouldn’t that be “angry ant”? Ed).

The exasperated aunt believes that Freya only agree to move to New Zealand after her parents explained the birth date benefits to her. “She was adamant about not moving” said the riled relative, “until my brother filled her head with tales of time zones and rugby and not using shoes.” 

A spokesperson for the Double H family refused to be drawn into a slanging match making the following statement:

 “Freya would never rub it in their faces. She would never say “I got more presents than you” despite it being true.  She would never say “I got more calls than you” despite it being true. She would never say “I got to celebrate my birthday before you even though we were born on the same day loser” despite it being true. She would never say “Nar-nar-na-nar-na” despite thinking it. If the truth be known, the aunt should stick to her bin rummaging.”

A cat called Kat from Santiago has won first prize in a Look-Alike Contest. The prize winning puss entered the competition as a look-alike of the cat on the cover of Kafka on the Shore the critically acclaimed novel by Japanese author Haruki Murakami. Judges were unanimous in their decision despite strong challenges from a slightly aged Sailor Moon and a preposterous excuse for Godzilla. A man from the audience who looked a little like Elvis Presley (especially if one screwed up one’s eyes a tad) came in fourth despite not having entered the competition – but more than happy to talk away the prize of an electric kettle (individual size).

Pea Power!

Ms Maya Eve of Destruction C, a youngster from Bristol who celebrates her birthday today, has stunned the science world with her earth shattering revelations on the magnetic properties of peas which threaten to change the way we interact with our vegetables on a daily basis. Ms Destruction’s work in the area of vegetable life Nano technology is truly ground-breaking given the newly discovered properties of the common pea and its low costs as raw material. An expert from one of the top British Science Associations claimed that Ms Destruction’s work is "as important as Einstein’s" and that the youngster is in line for a Nobel Prize nomination.  "I think we can expect to see pea-powered mobile-phones and computers within the next 12 months that will cost a fraction of their current price. " said the expert.

Ms Destruction, who celebrates her birthday today, was unavailable for comment.

 

Cheap Publicity Scam

Bristol based  "No Notes" creator Danny L has announced a birthday that many see as a blatant attempt to cash in on his daughter's prime time blogspot space. Although a previous birthday has been registered by Mr. L on this date, the word on the street is that the twinkle-fingered wizard has lost his mojo and that bad publicity is better than no publicity at all. Mr. L's daughter, Robin Autumn has been at the centre of a blogspot birthday blunder that also involved part-time superhero Perdo B. Robin's birthday was delayed by 24 hours by world famous blogspot papasgotabrandnewblog and this caused a barrage of outrage from online readers.

Today's photo shows Danny from a previous era when his mojo was in full swing and a more recent snap of Danny being told (ordered?) what to do by the lovely Robin Autumn. 

Birthday Blunder Scandal: Plot Thickens

Readers of world famous blogspot papasgotabrandnewblog have been shocked to read that the editor of the online journal has planned a post to celebrate his own birthday less than a day after the highly publicized Birthday Blunder involving Bristol youngster Robin Autumn. Poor Robin had to celebrate her birthday a day late after the blogspot gave preference to the birthday of Santiago based part-time Superhero Pedro B. One reader described the decision as "in poor taste" whilst a Ms. Bird from Bristol claimed that it was "an insult" and "a travesty of justice". She then joined both comments together and claimed that the move would "add insult to injury" before shuffling off and rummaging through some bins whilst mumbling to herself.

Papasgotabrandnewblog staff were unavailable for comment and, at the time of going to press, no mention had been made of the birthday of the "unnamed" editor who celebrates his birthday today.

Blogspot Birthday Blunder Bothers Bird

Outraged readers of world famous blogspot papasgotabrandnewblog have accused the controversial online journal of "milking" birthdays in order to reach its annual post quota. One reader in particular, a Ms Bird from Bristol, complained bitterly about the treatment her young daughter has received from the blundering blogspot.

"My daughter's birthday was reported 24 hours late in an article that makes a mockery of me and my daughter's celebration. I think it's outrageous."

A spokesperson for the blog was quick to jump to its defense.

"We agree" the spokesperson told a papasgotabrandnewblog reporter. "It's outrageous. Outrageously good, impishly apt, and perfectly plausible. The reader needs to understand the concept. Nobody likes to share their birthday so, in the event of two, we opted to delay reporting one of them. We’ll switch the order round next year. Furthermore, Robin Autumn now has the honour of being the first person to be affected by this situation and will now feature in the Papasgotabrandnewblog book of Records, £18.95 from all good bookshops. Finally, we wish Robin Autumn a very happy, first-time, 24-hour late birthday - Many happy returns of the yesterday!”

At the time of going to press Ms Bird was unavailable for comment. As readers can see from the picture, Robin Autumn was NOT amused.

Part-time superhero Pedro Banfi made a special appeal to robbers and thieves in the Santiago district to take the day off from their usual activities. Little Pedro celebrates his birthday today and wants to be able to celebrate without being interupted by superhero activities every 5 minutes.
"I work long, hard hours" explained Banfi. "Apart from being a superhero, I also have to go to school, tidy my room, and do my homework. I don't think one day a year off is too much to ask for."
In the event of an incident, crime victims have been asked to rely on the normal channels (Police, Fire, Ambulance, mums & dads, etc). However, Banfi has warned that crinimals and thieves who don't respect the arrangement will be biffed twice as hard tomorrow. Ouch!!

A Facebook post uploaded at 10pm UK time has started frantic wheel-whirling in the Santiago Office of world famous blogspot papasgotabrandnewblog. This is the first mention of the popular blogspot in a Facebook post and staff at PGBNB are anxious to know whether the rumours of a Facebook Fan page are finally confirmed. A spokesperson for the cult-bound blogspot gave the following statement:

"Everybody connected to the blog is on tenderhooks. This could be the big break we've been waiting for. A Facebook fan page is like a calling card that says "Hey, I made it". Actually, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank a few people..... What do ya mean it's not the time or the place? I demand to speak to the .... uh!".

Needless to say, with no worthwhile publications to date, it's unlikely that the wacky blogspot will last the year, let alone win a prize. The last post was over three weeks ago and this is currently the second least post-filled year since the blog started publishing back in March 2006 with only 52 posts. Only time will tell as to whether or not things get better.

Santiago Superhero

There have been reports of a masked crime-fighter roaming the streets of Santiago Chile. Local residents claim that the stranger is “doing good things to help local people”. One woman said the superhero had rescued her cat from a tree and another elderly woman said that he had helped her carry her shopping home. Police have refused to comment on the situation but an unnamed officer did say that “People shouldn’t take the law into their own hands”.
World famous blogspot Papasgotabrandnewblog has exclusive information on the do-gooder but has decided not to unmask the masked man.
“He is doing a service to society.” said a high ranking Papasgotabrandnewblog person, “His secret is safe with us.”
However, the blogspot had no problem printing a photo of the world’s newest super-duper hero.

Joy Jumpers

Bristol based beat basher Dan C, was jumping for joy last week after a long overdue visit to the place where it all began. The slinky sticks man with Black Country Cowboy rockers John E Vistic Experience returned to his roots accompanied by the up and coming Bristol based electronic outfit Time Travel Trio.

Dan dropped by the legendary one time bedroom studio in West Lorne Street Chester where as a 7-year old he wrote and recorded his first composition Psychling, performed with his backing band The Uncles. A number of other original songs were recorded at the session which is considered a defining moment in the history of modern music by those in the know (and there aren't too many of us about. Ed).

The local council are considering honoring the site with a plague amid rumours of a reunion tour. Dan remained tight lipped and refused to comment.
"I refuse to comment" said the dashing drummer before dashing off.

Lola's Moon Rocks!

According to unconfirmed reports, Bristol youngster Rockin’ Robin LH gave her little sister Lola Moon a birthday present she’ll never forget – that’s right, she tattooed a moon on her forehead and little Lola will never forget it because it’ll be starring back at her every morning, noon and night when she looks in the bathroom mirror! Paparazzi are currently clambering over each other to get the first photo of Lola’s moon but as of yet to no avail.
Lola, daughter of No Notes creator Danny L (http://www.nonotes.co.uk/notes/) and occasional graphic artist Lizzie H, is currently “out of circulation” and world famous blogspot papasgotabrandnewblog is unable to confirm rumours that she is undergoing laser treatment to have her “present” removed. We can confirm however that Robin had her wings clipped and has been grounded. We find tis some what drastic as we're sure that Lola's moon rocks.

Time Travel Trouble

High ranking officials at World famous blogspot Papasgotabrandnewblog have launched an investigation as to why nothing has been posted by the popular blogspot since it falsely reported on a trip back to his roots by Bristol based Rock Drummer Dan E. C, beatmaker with psychedelic West Country rockers John E. Vistic.

Rumours of a rift between management and journalists remain unconfirmed but it is now over two weeks since the online news and entertainment based journal last published anything. The word on the grapevine is that problema occured related to the authenticity of a story the blogspot was planning to run and that company directors pulled the plug on the story. Supposedly, the Editor and Staff objected to management meddling.

Word leaked to the press a little over a week ago suggested that the blogspot was preparing an exclusive story of 3 young Bristol girls who have successfully participated in time-travel. However, given that their time-travel machine is currently quote “on its way to the knacker’s yard” unquote, there seems to be little chance of this story every materializing.

Nevertheless, an unnamed employee for Papasgotabrandnewblog, who wishes to remain anonymous, claims that the time-machine was damaged during a trip the girls made at the beginning of the month. He also added that it will be impossible to verify this fact until the girls actually appear in the future time that they visited.

There has been some suspicion that rival blogspots are out to discredit the hugely popular PGABNB and the World Press Association is believed to be carrying out an investigation. When questioned on the matter a spokesperson for the WPA is reported to have commented “Papa’s got a what? Sorry Luv, never heard of it. Fancy going for a drink later?”

At the time of going to press, all attempts to interview the so called “Time-Travel Trio” have failed. According to their parents, the 3 young girls are “exhausted after a long trip and are currently under observati ….. er ….resting.”

According to rumours, Bristol based rock-star Dan EC, the human rhythm-machine behind psychedelic black-country rockers John E Vistic Experience, took his family on a magical mystery tour of his musical roots this weekend. The hard hitting drummer packed up his wife and sprogs into the family’s “mobile home” and sped up the motorway to the city of Chester, to visit the place where the funky drummer began his musical career over 30 years ago. Unknown to many of his fans, Dan’s first foray into the pop world was as singer-lyricist with seminal rock outfit Danny & the Uncles. World famous blogspot Papasgotabrandnewblog received exclusive details of the trip and hopes to feature photo evidence in the very near future. In the meantime, we leave you with a photo of Dan’s N°1 fans.

Lost Birthday Found!

Bristol police announced this morning that they had found a birthday which had been missing for the past week.
Toddler Pixie H, who should have celebrated her birthday on July 23rd, had to delay festivities owing to the fact that her birthday had "gone astray". The police officer who recovered the birthday said that investigations were ongoing to discover whether foul play was involved. Later, Bristol Police Force issued the following statement:
"When the birthday was announced by one of the parents it was nowhere to be found. The birthday in question was recovered late last night and while it appeared to be in good shape doctors insisted in keeping it under observation overnight. It was returned to its owner this morning. We have reasons to suspect that the birthday was being held captive against its will. We have not ruled out the possibility that this was an inside job and we plan to continue with our investigation until we find the culprit."

Saint Symphorosa

According to an old Passio (a Passion play) Saint Symphorosa was martyred with her seven sons at Tibur (Tivoli) towards the end of the reign of Emperor Hadrian (117–138).

Her Saint's day is celebrated on July 18th despite being having been removed from Roman Catholic calendar of saints for lack of authenticity of her story.

According to Wikipedia "Symphorosa was a lady living at Tibur, the widow of the tribune, St. Getulius, who had previously been martyred by Emperor Hadrian at Gabii, now Torri, a town of the Sabines. When Hadrian had completed his costly palace at Tibur and began its dedication by offering sacrifices, he received the following response from the gods: "The widow Symphorosa and her sons torment us daily by invoking their God. If she and her sons offer sacrifice, we promise to give you all that you ask for." When all the emperor's attempts to induce Symphorosa and her sons to sacrifice to the gods were unsuccessful, he ordered her to be brought to the Temple of Hercules, where, after various tortures, she was thrown into the river Anio, with a heavy rock fastened to her neck."

Artting The Artist

Bristol based artist Colin H. has become the first Bristol based artist to appear in a brand new virtual art exhibition by world famous blogspot Papasgotabrandnewblog. Called Artting the Artist, the exhibition puts the artist at the centre of the exhibition without their prior knowledge thus changing the emphasis from the artist's work as an artist to the artistic expression of the artist as art.
The body of work being exhibited is entitled “Bringing the artist closer to his public in 3 images”. The piece examines the concept of space and distance between art, artists and their viewing public whilst exploring the underlying themes of isolation, alienation and complex post-Freudian oedipal complexes.
Described by one modern art critic as "complete and utter crap", the exhibition is likely to fade into obscurity only to be quoted by some so-and-so in 50 years’ time as the turning point of conceptual art in the 21st Century. However, the exhibition organisers have said that they'd rather not wait and would prefer to have the fame, recognition and accolades now so that they can actually benefit from them.
Colin H, who celebrates his birthday today, was unable for comment.
