Things in Santiago are slowly returning to normal. There are long queues outside petrol stations and supermarket shelves containing basic foodstuffs are empty. For example, bread and flour seem almost impossible to buy. I get the idea that 90% of the city has gas, electricity and water. However, there has been some looting on the outskirts of the city.
Things in other parts of the country are a lot worse. As you may have heard, there has been widespread looting in Concepcion (the 2nd biggest sity in Chile). In some cases this has hampered rescue operations. Many costal towns and villages have been devastated and people there are without food or water.
