The Mexican Day of the Dead seems a fitting moment for a post on
Malcolm Lowry's semi autobiographical masterpiece
Under the Volcano. Set in the small Mexican town of Quauhnahuac on the Day of the Dead 1938, this amazing novel tells the story of an alcoholic Ex-British consul who, due to the demon booze, is slowly losing the plot.
"In 1998 it was rated as number 11 on the list of the 100 best novels of the 20th century compiled by the Modern Library" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Under_the_Volcano)

It was so good, I read it twice
