It's raining in Santiago, chucking it down. I'm having a late night cup of tea before hitting the sack. This blog-post-a-day-thing has been preying on my mind and I've been trying to figure out what I hope to achieve. This led me to consider what I don't want rather than what I do want. What I don't want are any rules. However, neither do I want my posts to be nothing more than music videos of favourite tunes or anything of that ilk. The Bessie was a good way to sum up my blog-state of mind, you know, having the blues n' all that. I had wanted to put up a version of "Nobody knows you when your down and out" (my first & favourite Bessie tune) but there was no link to the code. I could have linked the Nina version but I wanted to start at the beginning, I mean, there's not much before Bessie. A little Jelly Roll Morton or Louie Armstrong's early band (Hot Five) but nothing I'd listen to now.
Anyway, on another note, I wondered, given the new lease of life that the blog-a-day-thing is bound to generate, whether or not I should customise the blog template? I mean to say, it's had the same paint job for almost 5 years! Subsequently, I thought about changing my Steptoe profile picture to a mug-shot of yours truely, but, coward that I am, I decided against being so daring and have posted a picture instead.
